Chinese actress Zhao Wei, also known as Vicki Zhao, was confirmed on May 27 to be one of the seven judges for the Golden Goblet Awards at the 13th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), ifeng.com reports. Movie actress Michelle Yeoh, on May 26, brought her global campaign for road safety to the Asia-Pacific region, where she warned that deaths and injuries from accidents were reaching epidemic levels. Speaking at an international transport forum in Manila sponsored by the Asian Development Bank, Yeoh pushed for universal use of helmets by motorcycle riders and the building of safer roads to cater to pedestrians and two-wheel vehicles.

It has been confirmed that Arashi's Jun Matsumoto (26) will star in Fuji TV's Monday night drama series next season. He will be the first member of the group to appear in a drama during that time slot, and this will be his first lead role in a full-length Fuji TV series. The drama, titled "Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku," is an original love story by "Buzzer Beat" screenwriter Mika Omori. The female lead is being played by Yuko Takeuchi (30), who starred in "Lunch Queen" and "Fukigen na Gene," both also written by Omori.

Malaysian actress Angelica Lee Sinje and her Hong Kong film-maker husband Oxide Pang spent their honeymoon helping out a poor community in Bohol, Philippines. They called the honeymoon Love Beyond Self. Romance, said Lee, was sleeping under a mosquito net. "It was a time of adjustment. I grew up in a kampung (village) hence I could still accept a lot of things. But, Oxide is a city boy and was unaccustomed to a life devoid of what he considered to be basic necessities," said Lee, 34, in a press conference in Kuala Lumpur on May 26.
