Wakame-chan from Animation ‘Sazae-san’ Becomes Elevator Girl
Osaka-based confectionery company Ezaki Glico, manufacturer of popular chocolate biscuit snack Pocky, started airing its fourth installment of commercials for "Almond Premium" and "Dear cacao" products on Tuesday. The commercial series - "The Isono Family 25 years onwards" - depict the adult lives of Katsuo and Wakame Isono, who are the younger brother and younger sister of Sazae-san in the original animation series.
Actress Rie Miyazawa, 36, and actor Tadanobu Asano, 35, play the roles of Wakame and Katsuo respectively. In the latest installment, Wakame has landed a job as an "elevator lady" in an old department store – a store she frequented in the original series.
