Pinko Izumi, Asaka Seto to Star in the Remake of ‘Tonari no Shibafu’

TOKYO - "Tonari no Shibafu", a popular short series that aired on NHK’s Ginga Terebi (Galaxy TV) in 1976, will be remade into a drama series by TBS. Asaka Seto, 32, will star as the wife, while Pinko Izumi will play her mother-in-law.
Scriptwriter Sugako Hashida told reporters, "The problems between a wife and her mother-in-law are really pertinent to Japan and our decreasing population. I think it’ll mean more to people now than it did in the 1970s".
