Jackie Chan Adopts Two Pandas

Two lucky pandas in Chengdu now have their new superstar "father". Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan on May 12, 2009 adopted two giant pandas at Chengdu Giant Panda Research and Breeding Base, located in the Sichuan Province capital. The male panda was then named "Cheng Cheng", the female "Long Long" after Jackie Chan's Chinese name. Meanwhile, Chan was appointed "Chengdu Panda Ambassador" by the local tourism authorities.
