Cecilia Cheung ‘Hopes to Act Again’ After a Year’s Break
Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi has been spotted in a meeting with filmmaker Derek Yee Tung Sing just two months after announcing she would not be returning to the silver screen in the near future. Nanyang Siang Pau quoted a source as saying that it was Cheung who had initiated the move by arranging for an appointment with Yee, who last directed the Shinjuku Incident, in Hong Kong recently.
"She had told Yee at the meeting that she loved one of his scripts and hoped to act in the movie", said the source. The source added that Cheung even offered an 80% discount for her acting fees, lowering her salary to US$130,000. However, the source said Yee might not accept Cheung as mainland authorities were very particular about actors, who had been embroiled in controversies.
