Chinese superstar Jackie Chan has admitted he used to be a bully in school, and he only quit tormenting other kids after learning martial arts. While promoting his new movie "The Karate Kid", Chan tells reporters that he picked on his classmates until his dad found out about his bad behavior and enrolled him in kung fu classes.
Taiwan singer and television host Kang Kang revealed that he will marry his Chinese girlfriend after comedian Jacky Wu let slip the news during the taping of his new variety show "Power Sunday" on June 10, reported Taiwan media. "A few days ago, I sent her an SMS after having a few drinks and asked her if she was willing to marry me and live in Taiwan. She agreed," said Kang Kang, who made a guest appearance on Wu's show.
SkyPerfect TV will air singer Kumi Koda's concerts at Yokohama Stadium July 3 and 4 in 3D. Koda, 27, who always performs in eye-popping outfits, said, "I'll definitely be wearing something Kumi-ish. It might look even more impressive in 3D." SkyPerfect has begun Japan's one-and-only 3D channel, and the upcoming concerts will be the first 3D live music concerts ever broadcast in Japan.
Zhang Ziyi's next character will be Lin Huiyin, the first female architect in modern China, the Qilu Evening News reports. The newspaper quoted Dong Zhaohui, whose company, Joy Media, is investing in the film "Lin Huiyin", as saying that Zhang has been cast as Lin and filming is scheduled to begin later this year. Lin Huiyin (1904-1955), has been widely adored in China for her beauty and achievements in architecture and literature.
Boy band Super Junior is launching its third Asian tour "SUPER SHOW 3". According to the group's agency, SM Entertainment, the 13-member band will start their tour in Seoul in August, and move to 13 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Bangkok, Singapore and Manila with 16 performances in total. The agency explained that the group is preparing various events and sequences, including numbers from the group's recent album "Bonamana", and previous hits.
Taiwan model-actress Lin Chi-ling's maiden Japanese drama serial "Moon Lovers" suffered from dismal ratings in Japan and may face cancellation, reported Taiwan media. The first episode of Fuji Television's highly anticipated romance drama "Moon Lovers", which also stars Japanese heartthrob Takuya Kimura, garnered ratings of 22.4 per cent when broadcast in May at the 9pm time slot on Mondays. However, ratings dropped steadily until it hit a low of 15.5 per cent during the serial's fourth episode, a record low for a drama starring the ultra-popular Kimura.
After two long years of military service, singer Eru is finally out! He was released on May 28 morning, greeted by a horde of reporters and his famous trot singing father, Tae Jin-ah. Eru first enlisted in May of 2008 after giving up his American citizenship which would have freed him from any mandatory duties. He served as a public service personnel.
The four-woman music group MAX launched their new exercise program in Tokyo this week. Except for Mina, 32, all members of the group are still single, but Lina revealed that she has a special someone in mind. "I went to a palm reader a while ago, and was told that this is my lucky year for love," the singer explained, "so I'm going to work out a lot and get a really nice body."
Despite an earlier donation controversy that almost damaged Zhang Ziyi's reputation, the actress was listed among the Top 10 Chinese Celebrities with the Best Public Images announced by the Huading Awards on May 29. Zhang didn't show up at the star-studded awards ceremony held in Beijing. Zjol.com.cn quoted unnamed jury members as saying that the actress deserved the honor because of her continuing charity efforts in spite of the controversy.
Amber Chia is glad she decided to celebrate her big day in Bali with just 45 guests several months ago. "I was tired of big events, posing for the camera and being in the limelight with paparazzi everywhere. I was determined to make this an enjoyable event with minimum stress, not like the usual fashion shows I'm used to. "We flew our close friends and family to Sanur, Bali, where we had a 10-day wedding-cum-holiday event."
